Pontypridd The Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge

During the months of March, April and May 2020, images of rainbows have cropped up in windows across the UK, as the country tackles the devastating effects of the coronavirus outbreak and resulting lockdown.

Why are people drawing pictures of rainbows on their windows? Rainbows have become a common sight in the UK during the coronavirus epidemic, as people put up pictures of the stunning weather phenomenon in their windows to ease an otherwise sombre mood. They have come as a welcome addition to the pandemic for many.

This inspired me to create an artwork based on this new gere! The Old Bridge in Pontypridd is an iconic structure going back to the early 1800s.

Brining this bridge right up to date is my work simply called ‘The Rainbow Bridge’.
