ART COMMISSION TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Terms & Conditions apply to commissioned artwork created by Christopher Langley Art.

1. The Commission

The artwork will be created in response to the brief agreed with the client.

The client accepts that Christopher Langley works in a distinctive artistic style and that the finished artwork will represent the artist’s interpretation of the agreed subject, location or reference material.

2. Artistic Process and Original Artwork

Christopher Langley works using a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques, which may include oil, acrylic, ink, photographic reference, digital processes and printed media.

Where an artwork is described and signed as an original, this means that the finished artwork is a unique, individually created and hand-worked piece by Christopher Langley.

The term “original” does not necessarily mean that every stage of the creative process has been produced solely using traditional paint applied directly to a blank surface.

Unless specifically described as a print or edition, no identical reproductions of the finished original artwork will be produced.

3. Approval and Artistic Interpretation

Where appropriate, clients may be invited to view the artwork during its creation or prior to final varnishing and completion.

Minor alterations may be discussed at this stage.

Once the client has approved and accepted the completed artwork, changes of personal taste or preference do not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund.

This does not affect the client’s statutory rights.

4. Deposits and Payment

A deposit may be required before work begins.

The deposit reserves studio time and contributes towards materials, research and work already undertaken.

Any cancellation charge or amount retained will reflect the work completed and reasonable costs incurred at the date of cancellation.

The remaining balance is payable before collection or delivery unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Bespoke Commissions and Cancellation

Commissioned artworks are created to the client’s individual brief and may constitute bespoke or personalised goods.

Where applicable, bespoke or personalised goods may not carry the standard change-of-mind cancellation rights that apply to some other purchases.

Nothing in these terms affects the client’s statutory consumer rights.

6. Collection, Delivery and Acceptance

Clients are encouraged to inspect the artwork carefully upon collection or delivery.

Any concerns regarding damage or the condition of the artwork should be raised as soon as reasonably possible.

Once an artwork has been in the client’s possession, Christopher Langley Art cannot accept responsibility for damage, fading or deterioration caused by incorrect handling, direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture or unsuitable display conditions.

7. Returns

Christopher Langley Art ia unable to accept returns of bespoke commissioned artwork.  However, nothing in this clause limits the client’s statutory rights.

8. Copyright and Reproduction Rights

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, copyright and reproduction rights remain with Christopher Langley.

Purchase of an original artwork does not transfer copyright or reproduction rights to the client.

Christopher Langley may use images of the artwork for promotional, archival and portfolio purposes and may create prints or reproductions unless exclusivity has been specifically agreed in writing before the commission begins.

9. Agreement

Payment of a deposit or written confirmation to proceed with a commission constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
